Cannabis-Infused Homemade Fruit Roll-Ups

Add cannabis, and your favourite childhood treats automatically become grownup snacks. Our chewy, flavourful homemade fruit roll-ups go a step better, swapping processed sugars and artificial colours for wholesome fresh fruit.

We chose strawberries for this recipe, but it works beautifully with just about any fruit – mangoes and apricots are big favourites in the Hempster test kitchen. Add extra sugar or plain honey if you like them sweet, or better yet, find the ripest fruit you can and let the flavours speak for themselves.

Ingredients

1 pint fresh strawberries, diced (around 2 cups)

3 tbsp cannabis-infused honey, or to taste

1 tbsp lemon juice, optional

Method

Preheat oven to 170°F degrees (or the lowest temperature it goes – must be under 200°F degrees.)

Line a large baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper.

Place strawberries in a food processor until blended smooth – you don’t want any chunks.

Add your desired dose of cannabis-infused honey, and a splash of lemon juice to season.

Pour the mixture onto the parchment-lined sheet tray. Using a non-stick spatula, spread the mixture into a thin, even layer (about ⅛ inch thick). Keep in mind the fruit leather will lose some of its thickness in the oven as it dehydrates, so make sure that none of the jam is so thin that you can see through it as you spread.

Bake for about 4 hours or until the center is set -it should not feel sticky, just slightly tacky.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.

Carefully peel up the fruit roll-up and place the sticky, smooth side on parchment paper and place it on a cutting board.

Using a pizza cutter, cut into 2-inch strips and roll-up firmly.

Store in airtight container.
